welcome to our crazy world

Holy… It’s HOT!  I mean really really hot!

So it’s really not that hot, but it’s a little muggy out, though there is progress being made with things!  And I think I almost tackled the foothills of acrylic and the mountain of cotton!  I actually have a bed again!  At least for a little while it’ll be torn apart tomorrow so I can move it across the room.  But for now I’m sorting through everything in here trying to get my stuff situated and put away for a little bit.

Next week though you will see snapshots of all of us working (sh don’t tell Liz!  She doesn’t like pictures taken of herself!).  And I might have the basic design of the card holders we might be using done (not the new cards yet though)  I’m hoping that they’ll be really cute!

And I’m going to have to make more blonks, someone in our group is scrambling to make little summer sets for them to play with and well I only have about ten of the size she’s making them done!  But we’re already planning to work on those, some bags and other stuff for the flea market.  Soooo the nice clean neat work room that I’m doing…. will have the lab exploding in it in like four minutes.  Oh well it’s expected really.  But will be nice to get to work on those again.

Here’s a question for you while I’m here.  What summery treats do you like to beat the heat?

Okay so, the housemate and I have to bump up our time schedule for selling things (Though this is a good thing).  We’ll be trying our first flea market in two weeks, so the next two weeks I’m going to be scrambling to make bears and bags.  I have a few blue ones started that I need to finish too.  I’ll be taking yarn and stuffing with me when we go so if it gets slow I can work on making some more things to add to the table but I’m hoping that we’ll have enough for the day.  Pretty sure the bears will be a hit though.  My nephew and nieces still love the ones they got at Thanksgiving!

On a happier note, we may be gaining another partner as well, a friend of mine in the area is also an artist and she needs an outlet to sell her stuff so we’re going to help her out.  Look here for updates on that!

Also realized… OMG a post two days in a row! I must be in one of my moods!

Now back to my mad scramble. I’m running out of zombie flicks to watch while doing these things! I’m thinking I’ll finish watching Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan then find some mecha anime to watch. Maybe Outlaw Star, been a while since I mainlined that one.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Spending the holiday with family and really meant to get this out last night, but well ended up having a later night.

The pattern that I’ve been working on was a hit with the kids though.  My niece and nephew on my stepmom’s side named theirs Sophia and Koo-Koo, so far (Got here on Tuesday) the toys have been with the pair almost everywhere they go. Read the rest of this entry »

Little behind, scrambling around…

I know we had an extra hour earlier this week, and that was used to try to catch up on my NaNoWriMo….

Though I did get my Umami shrug done, I’ll have to get some pictures of it.  It didn’t come out exactly like the photos for the pattern, but I think that may be because I didn’t make the sleeves wide enough.  It’s okay though, made it mostly to wear under tees for the winter so no one really has to know right?  I’ll have to make another one later.

I’ve also been playing with Lion Brand’s Bonbons.  OMG! I love the colors in the sets.  I picked up “Beach” and “Nature” and am making little key chains for the shop with them (Though first made myself a turtle phone charm).

Still have a baby mobile to work on (The baby’s due on the 2nd of December) The mother will probably end up getting it a little late since my New York trip’s in there.  Most of the work for it’s done, I’m just making tentacles and little fish to hang off it.  Both are projects that can be worked on in the car since I’m going to be riding.

Today though… I need to reorganize my yarn because it exploded yesterday.  I was trying to find the scrap yarn I have to work out a pattern (Yes you heard that right there will be another pattern up here soon if I can get to it).  Didn’t find my scrap yarn, but found some that I want to make some Amigurumi bunnies with.  Now let’s hope I can find the white yarn I bought to work with it, because lace yarn on it’s own… I’m not that talented yet.

nIIz designs on Etsy is now open!

ImageWith a whopping one (1) item up so far.  The weather and camera weren’t being friendly this weekend hopefully I’ll get some more stuff up as the week goes on.

This scarf is 80 inches long each apple is 4 inches wide and it’s perfect for adding some color to your wardrobe for those chilly fall mornings.

it’s too early in the morning to be working…

Though I have two gloves to finish to go with a scarflet I loomed up last week.

Three baskets to finish for three special little kids for Halloween.  Hoping to have time to add in three little amigurumi toys to those.

A baby mobile which is looking like it’s going to be a jelly fish with little toys for the baby to play with as she grows.

Christmas gifts to make (though some of those I might be able to work on while I’m up in New York next month.  Some of the items I have planned I know will be great travel projects.

This weekend there will be photos taken so starting Monday you will be seeing new things up in the shops.  Today’s just a ‘gather my thoughts’ kind of day.  Also time to flip through pages of ocean life to see what I can make into block animals for the mobile.   I love working on things without a pattern!  I’m hoping that they’ll look as cute as I’m picturing them.  I’d show my rough sketches… But really my stick men look like kittens so I’ll try to get photos of the prototypes when I’m a little closer to having them done.

And yay craft meeting in 4 hours so I’m going to go dive into my cotton mountain to pull out colors now, turn up the music and try to enjoy the unseasonably warm morning we’re having.

I’ll leave you with something stuck on my iPod right now.

Coffee Sleeve

Because I felt like posting this one.  It’s something I’ve been making for a while they’re fun to make and I’m always getting comments on them when I use the ones I’ve made.  There will be a post later with stuff up on the shop.

This pattern is great for using up scrap yarn.  They make great gifts for coffee lovers too.  I’ve given them away as gifts and try to keep some around for last minute gifts for coffee or tea lovers.

The pocket works great in a contrasting or complimentary color.  And is big enough to slip in a gift card or a few sugar packets while you’re on the run.  They fit all the paper coffee cups I’ve tried so far (Starbucks and generic ones)  and are big enough so your whole hand is protected from the hot cup.

Tools needed

Size f hook

Any worsted yarn (two colors)

(I use cotton sugar and cream it works great)

(I put two colors because I use one for the sleeve and another for the pocket.)

Yarn needle

Any embellishments you want

(I tend to leave those off just because it makes it more washer friendly without)

Finished measurements should be 4.5 inches wide by 3 inches tall

 Chain 45

Slip stitch chain one in slipknot of the first stitch to form loop. Try not to twist the loop

Go through every stitch with a single stitch (45)

Slip stitch and chain one, (Will count as first stitch from here out)

Single stitch around row (45 stitches)

Repeat row 11 more times

Chain 19

Single crochet over (19)

You’ll want to repeat at least 7 rows.  More or less to your taste but I found 7 rows makes for a good sized pocket half the height of the cozy.

Whip stitch pocket to sleeve, tuck tails embellish as you wish and Voila!  You have a sleeve as unique as your coffee!

Feel free to show me how you’ve made this one.

OMG that was fun!

The Yard Sale wasn’t exactly a big sale yesterday, but man it was fun.  I will say this; the Berks County come and craft group is full of amazingly fun and talented people.  Luciana was a wonderful hostess for the yard sale, and her husband knows how to grill some delicious ribs.

The evening after the yard sale was full of music I grew up on chatter with amazing people and yeah not really crafty, but really we have to do it again some time!

And while I’m rambling about the awesome people in the group I’m going to plug the lovely hostess of our little craft group.  Courtney does wall murals which if I actually you know had a wall in this house I could paint up, would ask her to do it because she does a beautiful job.  I’m still impressed at the one she’s doing in her kids’ room.

Now with all that said… I’m going to go enjoy the rest of this beautiful Sunday.  The crochet hooks won’t be picked up until tomorrow, and I’m not even going to pick up the camera to take pictures.  Two weeks of franticly working on finishing things has me beat!

Yard Sale!

Yeah I know I said I’d post about this.  I have a tub of stuff heading over there this afternoon and a basket that I’ll be filling to take over on Saturday.

The yard sale starts at 8 am EST  at 26 1/2 Elm street in Stowe PA.  It’ll go on until 2 pm, my crafting group would love the chance to chat with people and well get rid of some of our stuff.  We’ve all been working hard on crafty stuff, and some of the others are selling off stuff they just don’t need anymore.

Can you tell this has taken most of the brain power I have at 2 am to write?  I have so much work to do to be ready still so brain’s stuck in single crochet mode.  Next week I promise I’ll post something a little more you know… like usual?

Time for a yard sale…

Well not this weekend though.  One of the craft groups I am in is doing a craft yard sale early next month.  I’m taking some of our stuff out, and will be working on more stuff for it.  What ever doesn’t get sold at the yard sale will be going up in the shops.  I’m hoping to actually get both of them ready for fall by the middle of the month with all sorts of goodies.  One being my cozies will be coming back in stock.  I’ve been collecting cotton yarn all year just for the mad dash that is the holiday season for cozies and toys.

Housemate’s working on some lovely scarves and shawls too.  Seriously a few of them I want.  I should talk her into doing another hooded scarf like the one she made me for Christmas, it’s adorable!

I got disorganized trying to organize things for the yard sale so I can’t pop up the exact address and time yet, but if you’re in the Berks county PA, area stay tuned I’ll pop the address up later this week once everything is confirmed with the other ladies from the group.  We’ll look forward to seeing you all there.

On other news, why I’ve been so quiet lately.  I have been on a marathon the last few weeks… Lots of running (well back and forth on rows to finish a Doctor Who Scarf.  The colors on mine are a little off, but I tried to get as close as I could.  Still ended up using the wrong color for one of the reds, but I’ve been consistently wrong on it so at least I’m not changing it up.  Have three more to make once this is done too.  Two for one of the ladies in my group, the other for a friend.  I think I’m going to end up finishing these, then start on other crafts.  I know that the cozies I can toss into my purse and work up on the go.  It’s one of the things I love about them on the go projects are great for me.

Well, work to to so I’m going to jet for now.  see how much more I can get done with these mountains of yarn at some point I should be able to find my bed.
