welcome to our crazy world

Just a few days….

I’m going through my mental checklists for things I need to take with me on my trip… I’m trying to pack light, let’s see how well that goes, I’m thinking I might have to grab one of my market bags to stick stuff into when I finish it on this trip because there’s no way that my little Kerropi bag can fit all my gear and finished projects.  It does great for most things and I like that it matches my computer bag, but this is a little further trip than to my craft groups.

Right now I’m scrambling to finish up two more stuffed animals for my Dad’s Grandkids (Via my stepmother) I’ll be seeing them next week for the first time so thought I should bring them presents at least.  Which means I’m probably going to be working on something for myself in the car.  I leave Tuesday and have some baking to do before then as well.

The animals I’m making, so fat I have a bunny, and bear done.  I’m thinking an elephant next, not sure what to do for the last one for the kids, though I’m making a black cat for a friend of mine because she thought they were adorable and begged me for one.  I’ve owed her a present for a little while so I’m sending her one.  Might make a little toy for it to hold too.  I’ll try to transfer my scribbles into patterns for these because they really are adorable so far.

I still need to send my pattern tester my basket pattern so that she can test it out.  I’m so behind in everything!  Though on the third next month I’ll be posting every day, we’ll be getting more items up I’m going to take a break from creating (Okay at least at a slower pace) so we can get some room around here.  As much as I want to do a craft show this year I don’t think we’re going to have the time or energy for it.  Though I will try to scope a few out just to see what the local flavor is on the crafting front.  Reminds me I have to snag the toy box from the attic because I think it would be a cute prop for these new toys I’m making.  I’m almost always looking for great props for pictures.

And well my stomach’s grumbling so going to jet to go snag some food and get started on some of that baking.  So much to do so little time!

– Yes this would be Nicky running around like a nightmare Turkey day main dish!

I was going to get photos today…

But I picked up the crochet hook to work on my Umami shrug (Interweave Crochet fall 2013).  I want to get this done before I go to New York and next month I’m doing NaNoWriMo, so I figure it’s a better time for photos too.  this month is being used and abused to finish up projects.
Back to the shrug though, for it I’m using Sock ease, because I wanted to torture myself with a small yarn and thought why not play with wool too since it’s one I haven’t used before.  So far I’m loving the ease of the pattern (It’s all chain stitch, treble stitch, double stitch and slip stitch, and easy to memorize!)  not sure how it’ll go with the back of the shrug though because I want to add a hood (I love my hoodies okay?!).  I’ve never tried a hood before either so there’s a new challenge.  If I can’t figure that out it’ll be okay, I’ll just wear it under one of my hooded vests.
Oh, and I know I posted a recipe a few days ago.  Saturday I tried a new one for Zucchini bread.  This isn’t exactly the one that I’m used to, and I didn’t have wheat flour on hand but oooh it was nice to have the house smelling like the holidays for an evening.  And yes, these are a hit!  I made one batch, and will be going to a party on Saturday so I’m going to be taking these with me.  That is if I don’t nibble on all of them before hand (So glad I have more zucchini because I’ll be making two batches for the party and the last one for the house!)
Let’s see I’m also staring at about 30 coffee cozies that need to be finished so they can be popped up on line.  They just need the pockets sewed on and the tails tucked in and done!  I’ll be digging around in my yarn stash for more yarn I can use on those because I love how fast those whip up.  Planning if I have time to get two bunnies done for my step-mom’s grandkids.  It’s been so long since I’ve worked on Amigurumi that I’m worried I’m forgetting how to make them!  So yep! It’s time to fix that problem.  Not to mention Dad bought me The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Amigurumi by June Gilbank, last year for Christmas and I’ve flipped through it but haven’t really played with it yet.  I love June’s patterns so figure it’s about time I break into it just to see it there’s any tricks I haven’t figured out through trial and error yet.
So, how’s everyone else’s Tuesday / Week so far?  Hopefully not as crazy as mine!

Friday morning!

Morning everyone!  Seriously today’s just a me day.  I have some projects that I should finish up for others, but today really I’m going to chill out with my hot apple Cider, and look through patterns of stuff I want to make for myself.  If I can manage the project in a few hours great!

And while I’m here, I’m going to promote my talented friend’s work again.  Courtney‘s looking for some quick painting work, so if you happen to live in the Mount Penn area of Pennsylvania and want a mural hit her up, she does really great work.

Craft group stuffs!

  • My mobile for Courtney’ll have to wait until Monday afternoon, (Sorry sweetie I have photos to snag this weekend and a few other small projects to work on.  Though you’ll have it before I go to NYC, if not just after.)
  • The Doctor Who scarves I loomed up are waiting to be handed off to Sandy when she’s back from her quilting retreat.
  • I have the project for everyone’s Christmas gifts ready.  I just have to sew them together.  But that will just take a few minutes.
  • The pumpkins for the kiddies just need faces and handles.  And Damn!  I was just at AC Moore… forgot to get black thread to sew the faces on with.  Good thing I want to run another errand today.

Family projects

  • I have the yarn for Liz’s gift.  Just have to figure out exactly what I’m making her this year.
  • Need to figure out what I’m making Br… I mean Evan.
  • Dad and Teri, still have no idea what I’m doing for them.  I want to do something they’ll both enjoy.  Tempted to just whip up fingerless mitts and matching hats for them that way they can still use a camera.

And yeah I’m rambling you’ll know I do that a lot.  Though starting Monday next week if the weather participates, should be seeing one ramble post like this and one shop post a day.  At least until my trip to NYC.

OMG that was fun!

The Yard Sale wasn’t exactly a big sale yesterday, but man it was fun.  I will say this; the Berks County come and craft group is full of amazingly fun and talented people.  Luciana was a wonderful hostess for the yard sale, and her husband knows how to grill some delicious ribs.

The evening after the yard sale was full of music I grew up on chatter with amazing people and yeah not really crafty, but really we have to do it again some time!

And while I’m rambling about the awesome people in the group I’m going to plug the lovely hostess of our little craft group.  Courtney does wall murals which if I actually you know had a wall in this house I could paint up, would ask her to do it because she does a beautiful job.  I’m still impressed at the one she’s doing in her kids’ room.

Now with all that said… I’m going to go enjoy the rest of this beautiful Sunday.  The crochet hooks won’t be picked up until tomorrow, and I’m not even going to pick up the camera to take pictures.  Two weeks of franticly working on finishing things has me beat!

Time for a yard sale…

Well not this weekend though.  One of the craft groups I am in is doing a craft yard sale early next month.  I’m taking some of our stuff out, and will be working on more stuff for it.  What ever doesn’t get sold at the yard sale will be going up in the shops.  I’m hoping to actually get both of them ready for fall by the middle of the month with all sorts of goodies.  One being my cozies will be coming back in stock.  I’ve been collecting cotton yarn all year just for the mad dash that is the holiday season for cozies and toys.

Housemate’s working on some lovely scarves and shawls too.  Seriously a few of them I want.  I should talk her into doing another hooded scarf like the one she made me for Christmas, it’s adorable!

I got disorganized trying to organize things for the yard sale so I can’t pop up the exact address and time yet, but if you’re in the Berks county PA, area stay tuned I’ll pop the address up later this week once everything is confirmed with the other ladies from the group.  We’ll look forward to seeing you all there.

On other news, why I’ve been so quiet lately.  I have been on a marathon the last few weeks… Lots of running (well back and forth on rows to finish a Doctor Who Scarf.  The colors on mine are a little off, but I tried to get as close as I could.  Still ended up using the wrong color for one of the reds, but I’ve been consistently wrong on it so at least I’m not changing it up.  Have three more to make once this is done too.  Two for one of the ladies in my group, the other for a friend.  I think I’m going to end up finishing these, then start on other crafts.  I know that the cozies I can toss into my purse and work up on the go.  It’s one of the things I love about them on the go projects are great for me.

Well, work to to so I’m going to jet for now.  see how much more I can get done with these mountains of yarn at some point I should be able to find my bed.
